Charles D. Pond

Charles Darwin Pond, 60, of Baldwinsville, NY passed on peacefully Tuesday April 22nd at St. Joseph’s Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Chicago, Illinois June 17, 1953, he grew up in Northbrook Illinois attending Glenbrook North High School. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Champagne in 1975 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Education and from the U of I Institute of Aviation with his Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic certification and his Flight Instructor certification. Upon graduation Charlie worked as a Flight Instructor until becoming a Field Engineer with General Electric working on industrial gas turbines. He later worked as a Systems Engineer for Trans World Airlines and again as a Field Engineer for Turbine Technology Services. He was a co-founder of Pond and Lucier, LLC, and most recently worked as a Senior Consulting Engineer with PAL Turbine Services, LLC. Charlie loved working on turbines. He is survived by his brother, Rush Corwin (and wife Marty), of Baldwinsville, NY, his sons Charles Andrew, of Dillon, CO., and David Tyler, of Prairie Village, KS., and their mother Barbara Jo of Overland Park, KS. He is predeceased by his father Dr. Robert Corwin, his mother Mary Rush, and his brother Robert Corwin Jr. A memorial service will be held for Charlie on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 1 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Baldwinsville.
