Tell us why you quit field engineering.
Up one levelWe field engineers leave the career for many reasons, though usually NOT because we hate the job. If we're lucky, we get promoted within GE. Sometimes we leave because we've had TOO MUCH assigned time. Others resign because a service supervisor pissed them off, or because the SS is so entrenched in the job there is no possiblitiy of promotion. Sometimes we just burn out and or we want to settle down, get married and "have a life." Tell us your reason(s).

Why Dave Lucier quit field engineering
- My reasons were typical. I had burned out and I wanted to settle down with my new wife back in the USA. I was considering graduate school. Mostly though, I had worked for GETSCO for over 5 years in 21 countries and I was tired. I worked in a four more later in my career (1990s) after working mostly on field jobs in the USA. I recently checked my old passports: 31 entries into Venezuela. Once, I arrived in 1992 one day after a coup attempt (called a "golpe de estato", a blow against the state) by current president Hugo Chavez. Missed it by 24 hours!
